THE BEVERLY HILTON

Background

In 2017, The Beverly Hilton wanted a new site for their iconic property. This project by D3, Hilton’s Internal Digital Agency for Design.

I was assigned as the sole designer for this redesign. This was one of my main project I got to worked on during my time Hilton Worldwide.

The goal for the redesign was to update the overall look and feel of the site but at the same address all the Accessibility issues from the old site. The new site increases the overall engagement as well as drove an increase in the booking.

“Conrad Hilton opened the Beverly Hilton in 1955. Architect Welton Becket designed the hotel as a showpiece with 582 rooms.

Since 1961, the hotel's International Ballroom has hosted the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.”

For the Exploration phase, the goal was to bring the site up to date and keep the elegance and its history—this one of the few properties inside Hilton that has its own distinct branding.

We wanted the Home page to be clean and minimal. We explore the examples above where the UI elements is faded in the background and focus on the photography or video of the hotel.

Booking Widget Exploration

Booking Widgets.png

One of the ideas for the Booking Widget was to take it full screen. The fullscreen give a more prominent focus on the dates, and improve the confident of user selecting the right date for their stay. This concept got approved from both my creative director and hotel owners.

Cards Exploration

We did numerous attempts at card styles below. The first few exploration took from numerous magazine layout approach, as the hotel is at the heart of Hollywood. But working with the developers, some of these concepts are out of scope. We end up with a simple card design that easier to implement.

Aftermath

Below is the final approved design for development. This was my first major project working with a product team, and it really taught me the importance of open communication and having consistent feedback from the stakeholders. I worked closely with Project Manager, copy writer, and developers.
